Wow. Again. I haven't blogged. I really do want to get more consistent with this but it just doesn't seem to be working.
Regardless, it's been about six weeks since I last wrote. I lost 18 pounds on my diet and the last three weeks I've been kind of sitting at 18. Not really trying at all. So, to encourage myself, I've decided NOT to try on wedding dresses over Thanksgiving break, but rather to wait until after New Year's. I'm hoping to lose 10 pounds more by then...that would be wonderful!
The wedding is coming along well. I have the date, the church, the reception location, the dj, the caterer...so I'm doing well. Bill and I just sent out our save-the-dates and people are very happy with them. They are pretty cute. We were happy with them. Next big step is finding invitations and then a baker for the cake and a florist. We technically still need a pastor...but we probably have one, as we have three options at this point. I'm excited to pick out the flowers and the cake. I am doing sunflowers and eggplant calla lillies. Should be beautiful. For the cake though...not sure what I want exactly.
Beyond that, I am working on a case study for organization public relations. It's BIG. It will be 40 pages when I'm done and the organization I am studying is Children's Miracle Network. Lisa K. from Saint Vincent is allowing me to interview her, and I have made contacts at corporate in Salt Lake City and a contact at the CMN hospital in Hershey, Pa. So, it looks like that is coming along well. As far as my other classes, things are good. I'm definitely learning more now than I was at the beginning and it's great. I really like it. I can't wait to be done though...to get a job and make real money and get married. It will be nice. And get a puppy too.
Anyway, going home Friday for Thanksgiving and I CANNOT wait.
All for now.

9 Pounds and Counting!
Hey, all!
So, I lost three more pounds this week so I'm down by nine. Very exciting!
I don't really have much to write about...I've been bogged down with homework the past few days and pretty stressed, making my stomach upset. I just finished my work, so now I have some free time, finally. I think I'll be heading to bed good and early tonight. I was considering watching a movie on NetFlix, but I think I'll come home from class and eat dinner, watch Jeopardy with Maezzy and then call Bill. When that is over, it will be 10 p.m. and I'll be able to go to bed!!
I am loving teaching classes. I would much rather only be teaching than having to take classes too...but obviously if I weren't taking classes I wouldn't be teaching either. Haha. Regardless, I'm a big fan of most of my kids and there isn't one I don't like, so that is good. This week we will be working with Illustrator. It's a fun program and I'm sure we will have a good time. Next week, as long as time allows, I am making them cookies, as we are allowed to eat in lab now! Makes life a lot easier.
Bill was here again this weekend. We had a nice time. We just hung out Friday night and then went to the science center Saturday afternoon and watched Adventureland that night. Sunday we watched three football games and did a football poll. Bill beat me by 10 points, so I didn't feel too bad. Maybe I'll beat him this weekend. We are just doing it by e-mail as he is not coming to visit. In fact, I won't see him again until October 23, which is a whole month!! Crazy.
But lots of things to distract me...IUP homecoming with the girlies is next weekend, Lisa organized a happy hour for Friday this weekend, though I can't drink because of my diet. But I'll still have fun! My parents are coming to visit the weekend after homecoming and I haven't seen them since my birthday weekend, so it will be really nice! Then, Bill will be back!
That's all for now. I better get started on more work so I'm ahead a little so I really can sleep a lot tonight. Only five hours each of the past two nights...that's just not enough!!
Adios.

A Much-Needed Update!
Apparently I'm just no good at blogging anymore. This is bad.
Anyway, it's now week four of the fall semester at Syracuse. Things are going well. So much has happened since I last wrote!!
1. ENGAGED!!!!! (Aug. 17) Could not be happier!
2. Earned a 4.0 in my summer semester!
3. Turned 23 ---> Getting old...
4. Planned some of the wedding, including picking a date, Sept. 25, 2010. The biggest decision right now is the honeymoon spot. I'm really starting to feel like I want to go to the beach. To St. Lucia and the Coconut Bay Resort. Found out last night it would cost us (though I can't price tickets for Sept. just yet) about $600 a person to fly down there. So our total cost would be about $2500, leaving $500 to go kyacking and buy some gifts or something. But Disney just sounds so much fun too. Such a tough decision!
Besides all of this, school is going well. I have A's in my classes so far, but I'm not sure if I'll keep A's or not. I'm only worried about one class as of now, and that is Organization PR. The work we are doing is hard, and it's all about PR theory. I never had a PR theory class and it's all very new to me. Kind of confusing. But, I will get through it. Even if I have to get a B. Besides, they say GPA doesn't matter in grad school because at EVERY grad school you have to maintain a 3.0 to stay in the program...so everyone has at least that when they graduate. And, simply put, no one cares about GPA. It's about ability and skill. So, I just need to learn as much as I can.
Also, started what I have dubbed the Pre-Wedding Diet. For Mom and Dad it's the BowFlex diet, but I have no BowFlex, so...you get my point. I work my arm muscles and abs a few times a week, but mostly it's just a low cal diet that calls for light muscle workouts and not so much cardio, other than the activities you do on a normal basis each day. So, I am two days into week two and going strong. I haven't really been tempted to eat anything that's not on the diet, and it helps that I hid all the food I owned that was not on the diet. Haha. Anyway, lost six pounds (!!) the first week and hoping for another four or five this week, but we'll see.
I have to go finish up a presentation PowerPoint now, but I'll try to be better about writing!

Boot camp is half over!
It's hard to believe that as of Friday (two days ago), boot camp is half over. I don't know that I've learned a lot of new things, but I've definitely learned where my problems areas are, and I've learned how to fix them. So, these last three weeks should be easier than the first three. This week is crazy busy though. We have interviews and photoshoots set up for our multimedia stories for Tuesday, then we have our final copy of our enterprise stories due Wednesday at 9 a.m. and then all morning Wednesday we are editing the audio and photos for our multimedia stories and putting them together. They are due by noon. It's crazy! We also have our stationery (envelope, letterhead and business cards) due by Friday at 5 p.m. A lot of work in one week.
I tried a church today. It wasn't too bad. The music was good and the sermon was a good one to be there for on my first day. The pastor was talking about the roots of the church, their beliefs and foundation. So, now I know what they believe, or seem to. It seemed like they were very much like my church at home and my church from IUP. I am thinking I'll go back, but I'd be willing to try one or two others before I pick one for sure. We'll see.
I guess I don't really have much to say. That's why it takes me so long to write between posts. Life here isn't too bad. Maezzy and I just hung out yesterday and I rented Coraline. It was a cute movie. I like Tim Burton films, especially his animated ones. It was pretty enjoyable. I'd watch it again. I watched When Harry Met Sally today. That's the kind of movie that if I see it on TV, no matter what I have to do that day and no matter what part of the movie it is at, I will watch it. And now that I own it, and I was in a movie mood this weekend, I put it in. I took a nap after that. Then I called three more people for my enterprise story, but only one answered. I'm hoping the others call back soon. I think it's going to be a good story. Not necessarily publishable, but not bad. But I'll definitely keep you posted about that.
Okey dokey artichokey! Bye for now.

And So It Begins...
Hello, everyone (as Katie Couric would say):
I've been in Syracuse for 13 days and I've decided it's about time to get my blog started.
I'm pretty much settled into my new apartment, and if I'm not, my cat certainly is. She has slept on almost every surface of the place and I'm really needing to brush her (daily!) if I don't want the whole place to look like a calico cat.
I've been to the zoo and a minor league baseball game. I've made banana bread, cookies twice and tonight I'm baking a cake for a classmate's birthday tomorrow. I unclogged a drain and I've been grocery shopping and got a new cell phone, among other things.
I went to my first day of class and met some new people. Erica, Lisa, Marki and Amanda seem to be my friend group, and sometimes we see Paul and Jon and Anna and her boyfriend, though I can't remember his name. We all went to pop culture trivia night Friday at the Inn Complete and it was really fun. Then Sunday we went to the welcome clambake -- also fun and a good time to keep getting to know new people.
So far the work has been challenging, but I'm not worried about failing...yet. Last week the PR kids had class Tuesday night, and for our news writing class we had to interview a classmate and write a story by the next morning. Because news writing ended at 5 and PR started at 6, there was basically no time to interview. Ultimately, I had 3 less hours to do the work everyone else did, and I still got to bed just after midnight and got an A on the assignment. Therefore, I feel the work will be a challenge throughout the rest of the summer six weeks, but I also feel that I will be able to do it.
Other than all of this, not much has happened. Just reading, reading, reading and some writing and a little bit of sketching. Bill will be coming up for the weekend and I'm hoping we will go out for Amanda's birthday Friday night if the homework load isn't too heavy. Then Saturday there is a scavenger hunt and karaoke at the Inn Complete. I think the plan will be to do homework all day Saturday until the hunt...hopefully it's ok if Bill comes along.
That's all for now. I think it's a good start to the blogging world of a 'Cuser!
